Child Support and Spousal Support
Child support is based on a statutory formula created by the State Court Administrator's Office. Determining the appropriate information to enter into the formula, however, can sometimes be complex. Giordano Law, PLC is familiar with the issues involved in the determination of child support, as well as when and how to modify a support order after it has been put into effect.
Spousal support (sometimes referred to as alimony) is an issue that is determined on a case-by-case basis. The law describes a variety of factors to consider in the determination of spousal support, including: length of the marriage, income of the parties, age and education level, amongst others. In addition, spousal support is one of the few areas in a Michigan divorce in which the issue of fault can play a role.
